Green & Sons, Gloucester and Cheltenham; Nitro-Hammer Gewehr, ca. 1913

Preis: EUR 12500,-
Edwinson Green and Sons, Gloucester and Cheltenham, best lightweight nitro hammer game gun, ca. 1913. Weight: 6lbs.10oz. 14 3/8"x 1 1/2"x 2 3/8"x 1/4" cast-off. Superb 30" steel barrels with 2 1/2" chambers and original nitro proofs (never a black powder gun) retain 95% of the original brilliant black finish, have absolutely mint bores (.723"/.727"), choked cyl./.032", and good wall thickness (.034"/.033"). Lovely round body action with peerless quality rebounding hammer back-action sidelocks, all retaining much of the original color hardening. Breech faces and action flats retain virtually 100% of the original hardening color and show almost no evidence of use. Top lever retains 100% original black finish and trigger guard retains traces of original finish. Highly figured straight grip stock and splinter forend have crisp checkering and retain virtually all the original finish. Original horn butt plate has some very minor worm damage. Double triggers. Edwinson Green was a highly skilled and innovative gunmaker with several patents to his credit including the over-and-under design which was used by James Purdey prior to Purdey's acquisition of the Woodward patent just prior to WWII. This little hammer gun comes in its original maker's case with original trade label and original bill of sale dated 2nd September, 1913 and is as fine an original late nitro hammer gun as you will find. Overall mechanically perfect and showing little use.
